Help us build a fairer financial services across Oxfordshire.
We are recruiting new Directors and volunteers.
At Oxfordshire credit union we encourage people to save with us and we use those funds to lend to other members at fair interest rates. We were established in 2006, but have made real progress in the last two years. We think our model of cooperative, ethical, local finance is an alternative to payday and predatory lenders.
We have a fantastic and active volunteer board. Together we’ve increased our membership, and now have almost £500,000 in savings. Lending is up, arrears are way down and we are almost sustainable without grant funding. We still have our challenges, we need to increase our reserves and expand our membership. Our regulators are placing new demands on us.
We are looking for new Directors and volunteers. Directors attend monthly evening board meetings and help in other ways. You should have good oral skills, be committed to our ethos and have demonstrable honesty and integrity. We don’t expect you to know how credit unions work in detail as we will support you to develop in the role. The role isn’t paid, but expenses are paid and you get an opportunity to develop important skills that can help in a range of jobs. Volunteers can help in different ways and the time commitment is very flexible.
Please download our Director and volunteer Packs at http://oxfordshirecreditunion.co.uk/about/volunteer-with-oxfordshire-credit-union/ or call Sue Tanner on 01865 251441 or Mark Luntley on 07909 962193 to find out more.
Please send us a two-page letter setting out why you are interested in the role and a CV showing how you meet the skills in our person specification by 15 August 2016. We will meet interested people in the following weeks.
