Notification of end of Aspire ‘Job Clubs’ Project in Oxford City from September 2016 V

I am writing to let you know that Aspire Oxford, with regret, will cease operating its ‘Job Club’ service in Oxford City from the end of September 2016. This closure includes the sub-contracted service provided by Martin Ousley of Renaissance Coaching. We will therefore no longer be able to accept any new client referrals from partners.

Aspire has been incredibly proud to deliver the ‘Job Club’ service in East Oxford, growing from the 1st club in Wood Farm to include services in Barton, The Leys, Rose Hill, Florence Park and Cowley area, over the last 3½ years. The achievements of the hundreds of local residents we’ve supported on their journey towards and into employment have been remarkable and inspiring; 607 local people used the service since its inception in 2013, with 53% moving into education, volunteering and employment (of which, 82 residents secured paid employment), with our support and encouragement.

We are currently working with community partners to develop transitional support arrangements, so that our current pool of clients in need can continue to be supported on their pathway to work. If you can help in any way for local residents in Barton, Wood Farm, Blackbird Leys, Rose Hill, East Oxford and Florence Park, or have suggestions of other agencies we might get in contact with on residents’ behalf, please do get in touch. Please contact our Job Club Project Coordinator, Rosa Curness, in the first instance at rosa@aspireoxford.co.uk.

Aspire is fortunate that it has a number of exciting project developments which will enable us to retain the expertise, knowledge and enthusiasm of our highly experienced employment coach, Rosa Curness. Rosa will be undertaking a more employer-facing role for Aspire, including supporting our efforts to set the foundations to establish a social recruitment service in Oxford, as well as to help us launch a countywide project to support young people NEET into employment.

I want to assure you that Aspire will continue to organise another two job fairs in East Oxford in the coming months, in partnership with Oxford City Council and Job Centre Plus. The next events will be Blackbird Leys in the autumn, followed by Rose Hill in the spring.
