Chance for Abingdon community groups to advertise themselves

OCVA, in collaboration with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, is launching a new scheme called Healthy Abingdon which is to encourage closer collaboration between the NHS and community groups in Abingdon to help improve health and wellbeing for people in the town.

A launch event and reception will be held on the evening or Tuesday 11 October in the large and beautiful grade 2 listed barn on Northcourt Road, Abingdon.  During the reception, there will be a continuous slide show on a large screen showing pictures of the activities of the many groups in the town.  This is your chance to show off some of the things you do by sending a selection of your best pictures to us.  The pictures will be captioned with the name of your group.  Clearly, if you send us some pictures, you are invited to the event.

From the health angle, we would like pictures of people engaged in physical activities and sports.  But we are also concerned with the wellbeing of those who may be lonely or have mental difficulties, and so we would also like pictures from groups concerned with the arts or other pastimes.  Pictures from singing or dance groups are of course very welcome.  Many activities make a contribution to wellbeing.

Please email your pictures by the end of September as jpegs to Dave Butterworth, the OCVA Community Ambassador for Abingdon, at dave.vol@ocva.org.uk.  Dave is also happy to visit you and take pictures if you wish.
