I am very pleased to be able to tell you that the Real Life series of events at the East Oxford Community Association 50 plus Club has started really well this Autumn.
The Club is held in the Lounge which was recently decorated by Annie Sloan and her team plus some of our members and other site users at East Oxford Community Centre.
The Heathrow Owl Rescue Centre is entirely run by volunteers. Last Monday, Terry Travis brought some of their owls to visit us. The owls entranced and informed our regular club members and visitors alike.
“She likes to come right up close to you” said Terry as he encouraged Daisy, who is two feet tall to move her talons along the glove protecting my arm and myself to cope with the adrenalin rush.
The week has flown past On Monday, 10th October the Club will be open again 10-30am.-12.30pm with our regular sewing teacher, Mrs Doreen Branney. She will be demonstrating how to make brown or cream cloth dolls with fabrics acquired from Orinoco and donations from our various supporters. If you attend, you’ll be able to choose your fabrics and take your own pack home with you to finish at your leisure.
Doreen is herself aged 80 plus and an inspiration to us all, still sewing and teaching women and men in Oxford of all ages and from a wide range of backgrounds.
Mrs. Liza Aldridge is co-organiser the Club and also runs the Bar, backed up by the E.O.C.A. Chair, Colin Aldridge.
Snooker, board games, quizzes, light refreshments and plenty of chat are all part of the menu. Underage guests are always welcome.
Please come if you want to and tell others about it.
There is very good access for those with mobility problems.
We hope to see you there, this Monday or any other Monday in school term time
With all good wishes
