Sport England has made two very exciting announcements which mark the start of their new work on tackling inactivity. They published Tackling Inactivity: A Guide to Sport England’s approach and investment. This document explains their approach to tackling inactivity, and provides some general guidance and support to organisations who are considering applying for funding from them or seeking to work in partnership with them. They also launched the Active Ageing Fund. This launches their nationwide hunt for brilliant ideas to help older people get active. This is the first round of their new dedicated fund as part of their overall plans to tackle inactivity. A share of £10 million of National Lottery funding will be invested in the projects that are most likely to work. They are looking for both new partners and ones they’ve worked with before who are willing to work with them to co-design innovative, different and experimental approaches that put older people at the heart of their work.
We are aware that there are several organisations/partners across the county that would be interested in accessing some of the funding. I am in the process of contacting organisations that may be interested in being involved in an Oxfordshire wide bid and looking to draw together partners for a discussion in early January.
I am hoping to get an idea of whether there are other partners/organisations that are interested in accessing some of the Active Ageing Funding in Oxfordshire. I would therefore be grateful if you could drop me a brief email indicating any intentions/ideas that you or your partners may have at this stage.
I look forward to hearing back from you. Jenny Shaw JSHAW@oxford.gov.uk
