Oxford Big Sleepout – Saturday 7th October, Hill End Outdoor Centre
The Oxford Big Sleepout is less than 3 weeks away – so if you haven’t yet signed up, please join us in what promises to be an inspirational community event.
Signing up takes just two minutes and you can register online here
Aspire Oxford and Oxford Homeless Pathways are organising the Oxford Big Sleepout in response to a growing homelessness crisis. We’re seeing a rapidly increasing number of people sleeping rough as well as major funding cuts to vital services, all creating a perfect storm that is putting the most vulnerable people in our local community at great risk.
This event is a fantastic opportunity to show your support for homeless people and help them access the specialist help they need to find secure housing, training, work experience and employment – all of which will break the cycle of homelessness, for good.
What’s on offer
On the night we’ll have live music from well known local musician Neo, speakers from both charities and film showings of the documentary Not Just Homeless as well as the uplifting 2016 film A Street Cat Named Bob.
We’ll then ask you to bed down for the night armed with just warm clothing, your sleeping bag and cardboard shelter. We’ll offer hot drinks and food the next morning before you head home.
We’re asking everyone to aim to raise £100 in sponsorship to make a lasting difference to people affected by homelessness – and you don’t need to worry about raising the money in time for 7th October as you can carry on fundraising afterwards.
If you would like any more information please don’t hesitate to contact Helen on firstname.lastname@example.org – and we very much hope to see you on 7th October.
