Root & Branch are looking for a Garden Manager for our thriving small charity helping adults with mental health difficulties on their recovery. The garden manager oversees all aspects of therapeutic gardening activity, manages volunteers, assumes responsibility for maintaining and developing the garden, growing plants to raise funds and producing vegetables and fruit to be used in cooking activities. The role includes pastoral duties, health and safety, budgeting, managing risk and safeguarding.
This role is for 20 hours per week. The hours of work are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8.45 a.m. – 3 p.m. with a little flexible time for out of hours plant care.
The salary is £13,520 (FTE £25,350)
You will be qualified at RHS level 3 or equivalent with a professional background in horticulture and very sound working knowledge of plants and propagation.
Our ideal candidate will have previous experience in one or more of these areas: mental health; working with vulnerable people; management of volunteers and/or service users; working in the charity sector and/or fundraising.
We seek a highly motivated, well organised multi-tasker who is able to take ownership to deliver positive outcomes, work well under pressure and is a natural leader as well as a strong team player.
