JOB VACANCY: Oxfordshire Play Association – Playworkers

The Oxfordshire Play Association (OPA) has secured 2 year funding from the HM Treasury LIBOR Grant Scheme to support Armed Forces Communities. We will be delivering both Stay and Play and Saturdads sessions at Dalton Barracks and RAF Benson.

We will be delivering a total of 288 sessions over the course of 2 years. The project will start in Spring 2018. These will be open access sessions which will run from 10am until Midday on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday mornings. The project will provide fun and positive Play opportunities within a Safe and Supportive environment at the heart of both bases. This project will increase Childrens opportunities to Play whilst promoting Positive Activities and Behaviours, Increased Levels of Physical Activity and Healthy Lifestyles.

The Oxfordshire Play Association is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Registered Charity Number 1160320) and has been delivering a Countywide service across Oxfordshire since 1974.

We are currently looking to recruit 2 Playworkers for these positions.
(A Senior Playworker and a Playworker)

Pay rate: £13 per hour for Senior Playworker and £10 per hour for Playworker

The roles will involve;
• Planning and delivering over a 2 year period, 288 two hour sessions on a weekly basis at both Dalton Barracks and RAF Benson offering a range of varied, engaging and Playful activities.
• Creating a setting and environment that promotes Play, Physical Activity, Healthy Lifestyles and Positive Behaviours
• Working in partnership with the Welfare / Community Teams on site and local Partner Organisations to ensure that we are meeting the needs of the local Armed Forces Community.
• Promoting other services and activities available locally to those accessing the sessions.

These roles will involve working 5 hours per session (2 hours prep, 2 hours direct delivery and 1 hour clear up) and a competitive hourly rate of £13 per hour is being offered to the Senior Playworker and £10 per hour for the Playworker. (dependant on skills, knowledge and experience)
These roles are based on working an average of 15 hours per week (Saturday, Monday and Tuesday mornings along with flexible planning and review meetings)

As this job involves working with Children and Young People it will be subject to an enhanced DBS / CRB check, satisfactory receipt of 2 references and completion of relevant Safeguarding Children and Young People Training.
