Job description: Jacari, Oxford’s oldest student-run charity, is looking for a resourceful, motivated individual to become its next full-time Coordinator. Commencing in August 2018, this position is on a one-year contract with possibility for extension dependant on performance and organisational fit.

Established in 1956, Jacari provides home teaching for local children who don’t speak English as their first language. These children have been identified by their teacher as needing additional academic support. There are currently around 180 children from 17 local schools who are supported by Jacari.

Jacari offers ongoing support throughout the tutoring experience, as well as hosting termly events and trips for children and volunteers. These range from local trips to museums, to bigger external visits to places such as the Cotswold Wildlife Park. Jacari also puts on socials for volunteers. Jacari also offers language support to the mothers of the children that we teach through our 2 weekly English classes that are led by volunteers at local schools.

As the only member of staff, the Coordinator role is vital to the operation of the charity. They will be in charge of running the day-to-day activity of the charity, providing a contact point for all volunteers, parents and schools.
