Job description: The Orders of St John Care Trust is a charitable organisation providing care to older people in over 70 care homes throughout Oxfordshire, Lincolnshire, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. Our volunteers support our residents and are involved in roles such as befriending, gardening, admin, and mini bus driving. It’s an exciting time to join the Volunteering Team as we embark on the second phase of our Volunteering Strategy, implementing a new management system to enable us to better engage with our volunteers and demonstrate their impact and value.
The Volunteer and Events Manager is a key role working closely with our Homes and the Volunteering Team to ensure our volunteering programme is sector leading.
The Volunteer and Events Manager is responsible for the targeted recruitment of volunteers ensuring we match the skills and experience of potential volunteers to the right voluntary role. A key part of this role is understanding the varying motivations of volunteers to ensure we deliver an appropriate role fit.
This role supports both volunteers and Trust employees to maximise the benefits of the volunteering partnership by providing best practice guidance, advice and ensuring compliance with volunteering processes.
This role is accountable for ensuring all volunteers are checked for suitability and receive a full Trust induction.
In addition to volunteer management, the Volunteer and Events Manager is responsible for promoting the Trust through well organised, meaningful regional events and managing a quarter of the departmental budget.
This role will involve travelling to our sites across Oxfordshire to meet potential volunteers and to support our Homes. Experience of recruiting and managing volunteers is essential along with the ability to inspire potential candidates to join us.
