OCCG Equality Reference Group – are you interested in getting involved?

Are you interested in ensuring that people from diverse backgrounds have an equal opportunity to access healthcare?
If so, we need you!

Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (OCCG) facilitates an Equality Reference Group with membership from patients, public, voluntary and community groups and Healthwatch Oxfordshire. The group helps to set the Equality objectives and uses these to develop an annual Equality & Diversity action plan and then holds OCCG to account for delivery against the identified actions. The group also scores OCCG on the NHS England Equality Delivery System (EDS) and how well it fares in meeting the goals. Members also provide information and feedback on Equality and Diversity issues in the provision of health care across Oxfordshire.

Meetings are held four times a year and patient/ public members are paid a nominal sum for their expertise and out of pocket expenses for travel.

You do not need to be an expert in the detail of the Equality Act- just enthusiastic about ensuring access to services by people from all protected characteristics, especially those people whose voices may not usually be heard. Support to the group is provided by OCCG Equality & Diversity team members and any necessary information or training is provided.

If you are interested in joining the group, please email cscsu.talkinghealth@nhs.net with Equality Reference Group in the email subject heading.

If you would like an informal chat about the group, please contact Maggie James on 01865 336874 or by email: maggie.james@oxfordshireccg.nhs.uk

Thank you- we look forward to hearing from you.
