JOB VACANCY: Didcot Volunteer Centre – Volunteer Centre Organiser (p/t)

Role summary: Didcot Volunteer Centre Organiser.

  • The daily running of the DVC office and management of volunteers and clients in a professional manner.
  • Registering and induction of new volunteers.
  • Helping to maintain and update the TransManager bespoke dispatch computer program.
  • Presenting the Organisers report with relevant statistics for quarterly Management Committee Meetings and the AGM
  • Supporting volunteer drivers and office staff and maintaining good relations between volunteers and clients.

Job location (usual place of work): Didcot Volunteer Centre office. Rear of Didcot Methodist Church, Mereland Road. Didcot OX11 8RQ

Pay rate: Part time, 6 hours per week at £9.00 per hour for 312 hours per annum.

Job description: The Organiser will be responsible for:

  1. The daily running of the DVC office and management of volunteers and clients in a professional and efficient manner. This includes filing all incoming mail and redirecting where necessary, regularly checking email either in the office or by webmail and redirecting where necessary.
  2. Implementing policy decisions taken by the Management Committee and ensuring all changes to procedure are approved by the Management Committee in advance.
  3. Reporting all problems promptly to the Chairman or other member of the Management Committee.
  4. Presenting the Organisers report with relevant statistics for Management Committee Meetings and the AGM 5. Registering new volunteers, obtaining references, DBS checks, Octabadge/Blue Badges, and ensuring volunteer drivers’ insurance and licence details are updated annually.
  5. Training volunteers and explaining exactly what is required of a volunteer. This implies knowledge of the legal commitments to volunteers and to clients.
  6. Ensuring DVC is represented by relevant attendees at OCVA ,OCF and any other workshops/meetings/events to which DVC is invited.
  7. Fundraising/recruitment activities if necessary.
  8. Helping to maintain and update the TransManager programme to ensure Driver and Client details have been entered accurately.
  9. Supporting volunteer drivers and office staff and maintaining good relations between volunteers and clients.
