HIT training – 12 week accredited short courses

HIT training are running 12 week accredited short courses which can be completed online or via workbooks – if you opt to complete the course via the workbooks they will be posted to the home address of the learner. You will be allocated a Training consultant who will be able to help with any questions or concerns that may arise. Once the course has been complete you will receive a certificate. These courses are available to anyone over the age of 19, and who have been a UK resident for 3 years or more.

If you are interested in any of the courses, please email training@ocva.org.uk and state which specific courses you are interested in. We need details as soon as possible as if there is enough interest it may be possible to continue to run these in Oxfordshire for free. Some people have raised questions which have been answered by HIT ( in bold following the question) and are posted below as may be useful to others:

  1. The courses Awareness of Mental Health, and Understanding Children and Young Peoples Mental Health – are they suitable for home-visiting volunteers? Yes these courses would be suitable for home visiting volunteers as they cover all aspects of Mental health. 

2. With regard to the courses: Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Team Leading, Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Customer Service, Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Business Administration, Level 2 Certificate in Equality and Diversity, Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent

Would like to know:

  • If the information in the courses is looking at the hospitality environment? These are not aimed at one specific sector, the knowledge they learn within them will be transferable to any working environment. 
  • What the expected overall time commitment is for each course? These are 12 week short courses, They would be expected to dedicate around 2-3 hours per week on them. 
  • If you can send further information such as learning outcomes and any prequisite knowledge as it is difficult to know what level/grade these are aimed at – is this available? If so, please can you send to us. Each course is a Level 2 course (GCSE equivalent), there are no prior knowledge needed for these courses as they will learn all the knowledge throughout the course. Once completed they will receive a certificate for the course they have completed which is nationally recognised. When enrolling they will complete initial assessments in basic English and maths that will just show us what level they are working at within these.

Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Team Leading

This qualification is aimed at learners who wish to gain further skills to develop their careers and progress in the workplace. It is suitable for anyone who is new to a team leading role, or those who are hoping to become a team leader as they advance their careers.

Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Business Administration

This qualification is ideal for anyone with an interest in the responsibilities and tasks involved in a business administration role. By exploring the principles of supporting events, project management and changes within a business environment, you will develop a competitive and impressive knowledge about this sector which can help you start a new career or progress within a current role

Designed for learners who wish to raise their awareness of issues around equality and diversity whether in society, the workplace or the community. Learners will develop knowledge and understanding which can be applied in the workplace or their personal life.

Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent

The purpose of this qualification is to support anyone who is responsible for the safeguarding of people and for helping prevent radicalisation. It gives learners an understanding of recognising the signs of abuse, how to reduce the risk of radicalisation and the potential consequences of illegal online activity.

Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care

Designed for learners working, or looking to work, in a variety of job roles in the adult health and social care sector. This qualification develops knowledge and understanding of a range of key issues, including: equality and diversity, safeguarding, duty of care, health and safety, person centred approaches and handling information. This qualification forms part of the popular Health and Social Care apprenticeship.
