Job description: My Life My Choice (MLMC) is a self-advocacy charity run by and for people with learning disabilities, founded in 1998. The charity delivers a diverse range of innovative and user led projects that enhance and empower the lives of adults with learning disabilities in Oxfordshire.
We are now looking for a Power Up Officer who will help develop and grow our long established Power Up project. In Power Up, a team of paid workers with learning disabilities are supported to train their peers, inspect services, act as consultants, perform research, and produce films. This well respected and exciting project provides paid work opportunities for people with learning disabilities, fee earning opportunities for the charity, and helps raise awareness of learning disability issues with professionals e.g. NHS England.
The Power Up Officer will work across the Power Up projects with specific responsibility for our inspection work with NHS England and the Care Quality Commission; this will involve travel across the country and the occasional overnight stay.
Staff benefits include flexible working arrangements (including time off in lieu of hours worked), working from home arrangements where suitable, a discretionary two days of extra special leave at Christmas, and staff parking (although, if possible, we’d rather you used your bike, the bus, or walked!).
The successful candidate will need to show a passion for empowering and raising the voices of people with learning disabilities and also be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check.
