The VCS Emergencies Partnership has received a request for volunteer support from Cards for Good Causes, a not-for-profit retailer of charity Christmas cards. They are requesting support in staffing their pop-up shops across England.
Click here to view a spreadsheet of the shop locations which require volunteer support. There are some in the Oxfordshire region. The exact requirements vary from area to area but at the bottom of this message are the contact details of each Regional Team Lead. Please contact them directly with any questions.
All volunteers will receive the necessary PPE, training and support on all aspects of their role. Volunteers in shops will be provided with tea, coffee and biscuits, but will not be able to claim any other subsistence or travel costs, except at the discretion of their local co-ordinator. Cards for Good Causes understands that other volunteer packages may be more generous, however they hope volunteers will understand how important it is for them, as a not-for-profit, to ensure as much money as possible can go back to the charities.
1. Shop set up
For shops that are still not set up, they would welcome support with unloading boxes and setting up the shop. As you can see from the spreadsheet most of these dates are in the next week to 10 days.
2. Shop volunteering
Cards for Good Causes is looking for shop volunteers in a number of locations. Exact time commitment can be flexible but it is always helpful if someone can commit to at least one shift a week (e.g. 10-1 or 1-4 or a full day 10-4) for a period of a few weeks. Tasks will involve operating the till, restocking shelves, ensuring Covid-safe measures in place for customers, supporting customers.
