Oxford and District Mencap – can you help to review their work?

November 19, 2020

Oxford and District Mencap celebrates its 60th Anniversary in 2021.  Amongst other things it has provided Summer holidays and a weekly `7 o`clock` club for people with disabilities. It is run almost entirely by volunteers assisted by one part-time paid Leader (currently a job-share). It issues a quarterly newsletter.

This anniversary year seems like a good moment to review our work: what we have done and are doing now, whether we could do better, work in different ways, be of help to more people, adjust and widen our activities.

Funding would not be the prime consideration in this review but of course if we can increase our resources we can increase our activities.

The trustees of the charity are looking for someone sympathetic to our work but with an independent mind, able to both challenge and encourage, who would carry out the review on a voluntary basis(expenses paid). The work would certainly involve talking to our `guests` and their carers, volunteers and trustees together with relevant bodies such as social services and national Mencap.  How much time this would take is very much up to the reviewer but  the trustees would hope to have the report by the Autumn of 2021.

If anyone reading this is prepared to consider helping us in this way, would they please get in touch with me as soon as convenient.
