Role summary: Volunteer Link-Up (VLU) exists to promote volunteering in West Oxfordshire and to support and develop Good Neighbour Schemes in Oxfordshire (in partnership with AgeUK Oxfordshire)

The General Manager’s overall responsibility is for:
• contributing to the strategic direction and development of the organisation
• ensuring that Volunteer Link Up’s work and the management of the organisation and its staff is carried out effectively and efficiently in line with best practice

Job location (usual place of work): VLU office in Witney

Pay rate: £24,000 – £26,000 per annum for 25 hours per week (FTE £35,500 – £38,500)

Job description: The General Manager will be responsible for:
• ensuring: that the charitable objectives in the governing document of Volunteer Link Up are carried out
• liaising with statutory and voluntary organisations, exchanging information and advice and exploring opportunities to work in partnership
• line managing the three part-time members of the VLU staff team
• seeking out and applying for grants and making other financial bids including contract negotiations with statutory sector bodies
• preparing the Annual Business Plan
• preparing and monitoring budgets

You will ideally have experience of business planning and preparation of funding applications. Essential to have experience of working in a smaller not for profit organisation, to show excellent communication skills, to be IT literate and to have knowledge of financial systems and budgeting.
