Job description: Unlimited is a small user-led charity working with and for Disabled people in Oxfordshire by providing information, signposting to other agencies and representing their voice. We need someone to help us make contact with existing members and other Disabled people in Oxfordshire. We want to find out what the key issues are that they want Unlimited to work on and how they want to get involved with the organisation. It is vital for us to grow our membership and to have a relevant and timely voice for Disabled people in Oxfordshire. We want you to gather individual case studies which provide evidence of need, to share information on our Facebook, Twitter and Mail Chimp accounts and monitor our social media. Part of the role is to gather data on key organisations for Unlimited to connect with.
You will have existing experience of similar work for not-for-profit organisation(s), use of social media and be a confident communicator using a variety of media as well as a methodical person and a good record keeper. Many of our members can only be contacted by phone so you will need to have good listening skills and patience to talk to many people from a wide variety of backgrounds and interests as you work through our membership list. We will need you to write succinct reports to the small group of volunteer committee members.
This is a freelance role funded by an external grant and will be a contract of between 16-20 weeks (depending on start date) to start as soon as possible. There is a fixed fee for the contract, equivalent to £15 per hour. Our ideal candidate will be a Disabled person or someone who has a good understanding of disability issues through family connections. Experience of working in the sector in Oxfordshire an advantage.
