Vacancies – Programme Leader – FarmAbility
FarmAbility is a local independent charity that is committed to improving the quality of lives, through access to meaningful activities, for people who have a learning disability and those who are also on the Autistic Spectrum. We deliver farming and horticultural-based programmes for our clients - we call them co-farmers - by leveraging the generosity of community-based farm and gardens.
To help us cover staff absences over the summer months, we are looking to recruit people to join our ‘bank’ staff. These roles will be part-time and flexible.
Bank Programme Leaders will be responsible for welcoming co-farmers and leading them in a range of purposeful outdoor activities in the garden or on the farm, enabling them to engage in the tasks at hand, with the aim of building their confidence and skills, as well as reporting on the days progress to colleagues via an established end of day debriefing session.
You must have experience of, and empathy for, working with people with learning disabilities/autism; have strong awareness of Health & Safety responsibilities; be comfortable working unsupervised for most of the day; enjoy the outdoors come what may, and have an interest in gardening and farming.
If you would prefer a more permanent role, we will be advertising soon for both full-time and part time Programme Leader positions.
For further information on any of the above, please call us on 07787 412630, or to see us in action, search for FarmAbility on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
