1. Oxford City Council Leisure for All grant
The Build Back Fairer review by Sir Michal Marmot in December 2020 (https://www.health.org.uk/publications/build-back-fairer-the-covid-19-marmot-review) found significant health inequalities were disproportionately faced by disadvantaged communities during the Covid pandemic and urged the whole of the UK to build fairer and more equal access to healthier lifestyles.
Following the publication of the report, Oxford City Council is working with leisure centre management provider Fusion Lifestyle to encourage existing leisure centre users and non-users, charities and community groups to apply for subsidised exercise classes which will enable those in disadvantaged communities to make exercise and activity more accessible and affordable. The Council and Fusion will consider applications that pay for all of the class or part of it.
