Mental Health– Support Worker
Salary: £21,168 – £23,693 per annum.
Contract Type: 12 month contract initially, full-time and part time positions available
Location: Oxford & Surrounding Areas,
Do you have experience of working within a mental health setting and the desire to help make a difference to people’s lives?
Connection Support is looking to fill various Mental Health Support Worker roles with opportunities to join our teams in Oxfordshire. You will provide a programme of planned support for up to 20 people with Mental Health difficulties, working with them to help them access the mental health support they need, maintain their accommodation, maximise income and build up an appropriate network of support in their local community.
In return you will receive a competitive salary (depending on experience). For full time roles you will be required to work 37.5 hours per week.
What you’ll be doing
The service will be provided Monday to Friday predominantly working between 9am and 5pm, with occasional work outside of these hours according to the person’s needs.
We work in a person-centred way to help the clients achieve their goals. This post may include a variety of delivery methods including face to face contact in and outside of the client’s home, and telephone engagement. We have an office base in Oxford but currently these roles will predominantly involve home-based working.
Some of this work falls under the remit of the Oxfordshire Mental Health Partnership (OMHP).
What you’ll need
You’ll need to be well-organised, IT literate with good communication skills and be someone who can remain calm and patient in challenging circumstances. You must have a good understanding of, and empathy for people with, mental health issues. It would be beneficial for you to have a knowledge of housing and benefits but what’s more important is your attitude. Above all, you’ll have a natural desire to help improve the lives of others who are having a difficult time and work as part of a team.
This work is rewarding and gives the opportunity to develop positive relationships with other services and professionals. You will have the opportunity to represent Connection Support, a well-respected local charity that is continually growing and expanding into new areas.
