Role summary: To bring training, development and project coordination expertise to the My Life My Choice (MLMC) Computer Buddy project.

The key aspects of the role are…
1. To project manage the Computer Buddy project ensuring targets are met as per funders’ criteria and as per the MLMC strategic/business plan
2. To identify beneficiaries and then provide devices ( laptops and ipads ) to those without, and then training and support to these and others. There will be some volunteer support to help with this
3. To work in partnership with other organisations that provide support and training for the project.

Job location (usual place of work): Oxford

Pay rate: £23,541 – £27,041

Job description: My Life My Choice (MLMC) is a self-advocacy charity run by and for people with learning disabilities, founded in 1998. The charity delivers a diverse range of innovative and user led projects that enhance and empower the lives of adults with learning disabilities in Oxfordshire. These established projects include the Power Up training & consultancy & research team, Champions who speak up and campaign, Travel Buddy scheme, 12 local self-help groups, and Gig Buddies.

MLMC is now looking for a new full time member of staff. The successful applicant will coordinate the MLMC Computer Buddy project which involves providing devices for those without, coaching and training beneficiaries, recruiting volunteers, working with key partners, and helping to develop a new MLMC User Interaction Tool (e.g. App). Since the project in April 2020 fifty devices have been supplied to beneficiaries with 120 receiving support and training. The new staff member will ensure the development and growth of the project.

This role calls for an individual who not only shows a passion for empowering, working with, and raising the voices of people with learning disabilities but also thrives on achieving targets.
We need a self-starter who enjoys a challenge, can hit the ground running and is able to work with minimal supervision. It is essential that the successful candidate has a UK driving licence and access to car (or has driver support).
