Public Health – FREE online courses on having conversations about quitting smoking and alcohol use and harms.

Public Health, Oxfordshire County Council are offering FREE online training courses on the following:

1. Very Brief Advice (VBA) – a simple approach which allows you to offer practical advice in as little as 30 seconds and can be effective in encouraging smokers to quit

This is a one-hour Introductory session and is suitable for anyone who is likely to come into contact with people who smoke in their day to day work. The course is delivered online via Zoom, and at the end of the course, you will be able to:

• Learn about the importance of talking about smoking
• Have the confidence to engage smokers in conversations about quitting
• Give the best advice on how to quit

  • Friday, 3rd December 2021 10am – 11am
  • Saturday, 4th December 2021 10am – 11am
  • Friday, 14th January 2022 9:30am – 10:30am
  • Monday, 24th January 2022 6pm – 7pm
  • Wednesday, 2nd February 2022 10am – 11am

2. Alcohol Brief Intervention – a simple intervention for people whose alcohol use may be harmful to their health without them often realising
