Learning Together, the programme for voluntary, community and faith organisations and social enterprises to learn more about *social prescribing. The National Academy for Social Prescribing has set up this programme to help community organisations understand how to offer activity and service support locally. We also offer free training opportunities and will share funding information and opportunities.
We are particularly keen to support organisations supporting those communities most affected by Covid-19.
*Social prescribing is the name of the process when the GP realises that patient’s underlying health problems may be related to social needs: that person might need help with debt, financial and housing problems causing stress or they may just need to be reconnected with their community due to loneliness and/or isolation after an illness. A social prescriber will engage with the patient over a series of sessions and make time to support the patient to link in with services and organisations in their community.
*This film will help to explain what Social Prescribing is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9azfXNcqD8
If you want to learn, meet other organisations in your area, access free group coaching and make links with strategic organisations, join us on this free six month programme. It should take up no more than two hours a month.
