Role summary: We are looking for a talented retail Manager. Whether you have a commercial or charity retail background, as long as you are committed to our causes and have the enthusiasm, energy and the drive to ensure our customers and donors receive the customer experience they deserve, we are interested in hearing from you.
As the Manager you will be responsible for the day to day running of the shop. Customer service is our priority, from dealing with donors and customers to making sure the shop is welcoming and inviting. In addition to this you will be expected to ensure that the donations are prepared and sorted ready for the shop floor. This role will involve a significant amount of manual handling.
In addition to a number of paid employees you must be able to recruit and maintain a bank of skilled and general volunteers who will be able to collect and sort and prepare donations for sale as well as giving our customers the service that they deserve.
A satisfactory DBS check and safeguard training will be required for this role.
Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday 10am to 4pm. Possibility to increase hours as trading is developed.
The ideal candidate will have:
A passion for charity retailing
Excellent customer service skills
A flair for window dressing and display skills
Previous operational/retail management experience preferred
The ability to lead a team to achieve targets
A good level of literacy and numeracy skills together with basic IT skills.

Role purpose: Manage the running of Orinoco’s store in Oxford
Manage and organise the Orinoco’s activities in Oxford, including the store when open and storage facilities.
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and other policies within the employee handbook.
Manage the WEEE project.
Support volunteers in the store and assist in recruitment of volunteers for pop up and other events, including completing inductions/DBS for store staff/volunteers and maintaining a volunteer rota and list of tasks.
Keep records of volunteer hours and weight of goods sold each week.
Oversee selling of higher value items online.
Ensure takings are paid into the Orinoco bank account on a weekly basis. Report to the management committee monthly on agreed data.
Attend the Orinoco management committee meetings as needed to provide an update on progress.
Manage volunteers to use the van as required to collect and dispose of stock and being responsible for its upkeep. Insurance/MOT/tax. Maintain a logbook of usage.
Research and develop proposals for future premises.
Develop partnerships and relationships with donors and customers.
Contact local suppliers. Manage stock donations and storage facilities.
Manage email (email address tbc) and social media campaigns.
This role will develop going forward and may include:
Management support to the Assistant Store Manager.
Working with the Oxford Outreach co-ordinator
