This week we have been joined by Anisha, who is on her work experience placement. She has made a fantastic contribution to the team and we’ve really enjoyed working with her.
Read her blog about her week with OCVA here:
I did my work experience at OCVA and found it incredibly insightful. During my week at the office, I participated in many events that gave me a deeper understanding of the complexities of the work done at OCVA. During the week I attended many different things both online and in person, this included team meetings, volunteering meetings and I also attended the Healthwatch annual impact report meeting.
All these I found very insightful and genuinely interesting, they enlightened me to many things, and I walked away from each experience feeling much more knowledgeable than before. I found the event at Healthwatch particularly insightful, they shared some short films of some of the research that they had conducted surrounding different communities and the individual struggles they have with our services for example GP practices, I would encourage everyone to watch these videos on their website.
The online meetings that I attended also provided great information surrounding many topics including politics, during the week I did manage to visit the Oxfordshire County Hall, the rise in living costs and what organisations are doing to combat the current struggle. These meetings were important and the wonderful people who participated in them offered great information that gave a deeper level of understanding of how different issues badly effect people from different communities and the support that they provide for these people. It is refreshing to know that these people are out there making a difference. If you or anyone you know is struggling, I suggest you research into it because there is a great community of support out there.
Thanks so much to Laura, the whole team at OCVA and all the great people I met during the week!
