JSNA: new bitesize on cost of renting in Oxfordshire

July 14, 2022

A new JSNA bitesize is now available on the cost of renting in Oxfordshire, part of a planned series related to the cost of living.

In summary:

  • ONS survey data for March 2022 shows a greater percentage of renters (37%) were finding it “very difficult” or “difficult” to pay usual household bills compared with a year ago than mortgagors (23%).
  • Private rents in South East region have been increasing at an above-average rate and there is evidence that the increase in the cost of renting will continue.
  • Valuation Office statistics show the cost to rent in 2021/22 in all districts in Oxfordshire was well above the national average.
