OCVA: First Aid at Work course – review and pictures of what the recent course covered.

January 24, 2023

We recently held a one-day First Aid at Work course which Laura Price, our CEO, and Jayne Wheeler, our Administrator also attended.  It was a busy day covering a wide range of topics including the roles and responsibilities of a First Aider, legislation, first aid box contents and their usage, and dealing with an unresponsive casualty.

The practical elements of the course including practicing putting each other in the recovery position and, bandaging wounds, before moving on to resuscitation and CPR using the Anne mannequins, and practicing use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).  Being able to practice in a non-judgemental, friendly and safe environment meant we learned these valuable skills without even realising it.

The day ended with a round of Choking Cricket (Laura’s team won) …. Come along and find out what that’s all about.

Our next First Aid at Work course is being held on Tuesday 14 March in central Oxford, see link here:  Emergency First Aid at Work (March 2023) – Oxfordshire Community & Voluntary Action (ocva.org.uk).
