Thursday 11th May was a grey day, but an interesting one as I made my way to Banbury to host my first in person Volunteer Coordinators Forum. Hosted in partnership with Keith Davies at Volunteer Connect the group met at the community room in Waitrose and worked through a short agenda.
The key notes were a presentation from Keith and Serenity about the works of Volunteer Connect, who work in the Cherwell area matching volunteers to organisations. They also touched on the workings of the volunteer driver scheme and the successes of social media.
I gave the group updates on the Volunteer Celebration awards, the training offer, Volunteers week plans and our upcoming Volunteer drop-in on June 1st.
We had a round table discussion around volunteering challenges, recruitment, onboarding and the new research Time Well Spent Survey 2023.
Our next meeting is June 15th at Oxford Brookes and booking is required.
It was great to meet so many people face to face and share experiences and knowledge. If you think you would like to join one of our monthly meetings (in person or on Zoom) sign up here.
