The Matthew Good Foundation’s Grants for Good programme provides unrestricted funding for small, local charitable organisations across the UK that are making a positive difference to communities, people, or the environment.
Funded by the John Good Group, the programme is designed to support small and growing charities, voluntary groups, community groups, and social enterprises, including those applying for funding for the first time. Grants can be used for any organisational costs, including core running costs.
A total of £60,000 is awarded each year, with £15,000 shared between five shortlisted organisations every quarter. Following a staff vote by John Good Group employees, the top project receives £5,000, second place receives £3,500, third place receives £2,500, and fourth and fifth place each receive £2,000.
UK-based local community groups, charities, voluntary groups, and social enterprises with an annual income of less than £50,000 are eligible to apply. Applicants must also have a bank account in the organisation’s name.
How to apply
Applications are accepted year-round and considered in the next quarterly funding round. The current closing date is 15th June 2026. Organisations interested in applying should do so online.
