FUNDING: Sport England’s Movement Fund

Sport England’s Movement Fund provides grants and crowdfunding pledges to help more people in England get physically active, with a particular focus on the people and communities that need it most.

The fund supports projects that remove barriers to activity and create positive change through sport, fitness, and movement.

Support of between £300 and £15,000 is available for projects lasting up to 12 months. Funding can be used to set up new activity sessions, improve or create spaces for people to be active, provide equipment, build organisational capacity, support projects that combine environmental sustainability with physical activity, and respond to emergencies that have disrupted opportunities to be active.

Constituted not-for-profit organisations in England are eligible to apply, including sports clubs, charities, local authorities, schools, Community Benefit Societies, and not-for-profit companies.

How to apply

There is no application deadline, but organisations should apply at least 12 weeks before they want to start activity or spend any funding. Decisions are usually made within six to eight weeks. Organisations interested in applying should do so online
