Bullingdon Community Connections brings together volunteers from the local community to create meaningful opportunities for men at HMP Bullingdon. Your business experience could change someone’s future, so would you be willing to help?
Meet The Business Group
This is a peer-to-peer group of men who are planning the enterprises they want to build when they leave prison. Together they work on business plans, marketing strategies, funding applications and financial projections. They meet regularly to test each other’s ideas, dig into research, and sharpen their pitches. They are motivated, they are serious, and they could really use your insight.
How can you get involved?
Come to HMP Bullingdon for an informal conversation — no lecturing, no formality, just a real discussion with people who want to learn from someone who’s been there.
They would love to hear:
- Your story — how you started, built and developed your business
- Your top three dos and don’ts, drawn straight from personal experience
- Your honest, constructive feedback on the plans they’ll share, plus answers to their questions and a genuine back-and-forth discussion
Think of it less like a talk, and more like the conversation you wish you’d had when you were starting out.
The practicalities
Berny, our Bullingdon Co-ordinator will meet you at the gate at 8.30am. The group joins at 9am and wraps up at 11am when the men head back for lunch. You’ll be back at the gate and on your way by 11.30am — just three hours of your morning.
A couple of things to know before you arrive:
- Bring valid photo ID (passport or driving licence) matching the name we provide to Security
- Leave your laptop, mobile, smart watch and any recording devices locked in your car
- You’ll pass through an airport-style security scanner on entry — nothing to worry about
Why it matters
The Business Group will gain enormously from your perspective and your time and we’re confident you’ll leave with something too — a clearer picture of how a prison works, and a genuine appreciation for the determination of men who are trying hard to do the right thing for themselves and their communities.
Berny can meet with you beforehand to answer any questions about the visit. If you are interested, please email Berny.
