This basic first aid course will equip staff members and volunteers in the event of first aid being required. The course provides information and practical demonstrations, designed to give individuals the basic skills to keep them safe, administer and the skills to save someone’s life.
At the end of the course, candidates will receive a certificate recognising that they have attended the course. In addition they will be given a handout recapping everything covered for future use, along with other medical procedures.
What will I learn?
By the end of this session you will have an improved awareness of:
- How to describe the actions taken to a first aider or paramedic
- How to deal with an unconscious casualty
- How to carry out adult resuscitation
- How to deal with a minor bleed
- How to deal with adult choking
- An understanding of basic first aid guidelines and procedures
Who should attend?
Anyone who feels they or their organisation would benefit from the presence of a basic first aider should the need arise.

£40 per person for OCVA members
