Employee Volunteering

What is corporate or employee volunteering ?

Volunteering as part of your employment means taking part in an activity or service whilst you are employed. This is normally either part of your package of employment or as part of a group event.

How do I spend my allocated volunteering days?

It is important to understand from your employer what your entitlement is and how you can use this. 1-5 day is average and some employers will allow you to split this into hours. 5 days can become 10 mornings for example. You can contact the group you are interested in directly and ask if they are taking volunteers. In Oxfordshire we have a volunteering website where organisations advertise their volunteering roles (just like you would for a job).

What if we want to volunteer as a group?

Many organisations will be happy to take a group of volunteers for one day, however this can generate a lot of work which they may not be able to manage. It is important to be clear how many people are coming, if you have any specific requirements and if you can contribute financially to the day.

Then what?

Volunteering is a mutual agreement, and it’s important to make sure that you are able to best help and support the non-profit you are collaborating with. Think about how else you can help them, maybe you have a skill or resources that would help them?

Finally-

Have a great time!

Team Oxford have been doing great things in Oxfordshire for many years in bridging the gap between the corporate business world and with charities and non-profits. Currently that work is being put on hold and enquiries will be coming to OCVA.

If you are a company looking for a volunteering opportunity in Oxfordshire for your team, please complete this form:

If you are a company employee seeking an individual volunteering opportunity, please visit our Oxon Volunteers website which has hundreds of local volunteering opportunities.

If you are a charity or voluntary organisation who works with volunteers and are interested in opening your doors to businesses, please complete the form below. This will help us create a database to manage the enquiries that we are already receiving.

Volunteering with your organisation is a great way to give back to your community and builds relationships with your colleagues.

Volunteering  as a team can really help with team building and supports local charities and groups. This could be litter picking, helping local groups with events, gardening, cleaning, painting, or tidying are often needed and appreciated.
