Introduction to using social media effectively

Tuesday 23rd February 2021   (£45 – £75)  9.30 am – 11.30 am (2 hours)

During the Covid-19 pandemic, social media has become and even more vital channel for communicating for charities of all sizes, helping raise their profiles, inspire supporters and reach the communities they serve. Yet for those who are new to social media in a professional setting can find making effective use of your social media channels challenging.

Measuring up – showing the impact of your work

10.00 am – 1.00 pm ( 3 hours with a short break in the middle of the session) Wednesday 24th February 2021  (£45 – £75) This course is now full – please contact training@ocva.org.uk if you would like to be on a waiting list for the next course

It’s no longer good enough just to do good work.  We now need to be able to proof it and show it.

This practical session will look at how we can move away from playing a ‘numbers game’ and focus more on the outcomes and the difference our work makes.  The session will look at tested ways of measuring the impact of what we do, how we can encourage people to take a longer term view and provide useful evidence for funders and commissioners.

Effective Remote Team Management

2 sessions both from 10.00 am – 12.00 pm  (4 hours in total)

Thursday 11th March and Thursday 18th March 2021 (£90 – £120)

As home and virtual working is becoming more popular it is now imperative for managers to develop their skills in engaging a remote workforce.

Attending this 2 part workshop will enable you to explore the evolving nature of team management by focusing on leading employees remotely.

Participants need to attend both sessions

How To Be A Good Trustee

2.00 pm – 4.00 pm (2 hours)

Tuesday 16th March 2021   (£45 – £75)

This course is for new trustees, those thinking about joining a board or existing board members wanting a refresher and update. It aims to provide an overview of the key things you need to know as a trustee. The session will equip you with the knowledge of your responsibilities as a trustee and confidence to know where to go to find out more after the course.

The course covers the role of individual trustees and the nature of their collective responsibility, plus some practical tips about how to be effective and add value to the board. There will also be a chance to find out more about some of the latest developments in the sector.

Reframing Conflicts

9.30 am – 12.15 pm (2 hours 45 minutes with 10 minute break)

Wednesday 21st April 2021 (£40 – £70)

Conflict is an inevitable part of everyday life.  It is often also experienced as negative, worrying, exhausting, painful, destructive and – at worst – dangerous.  It can be particularly stressful in small organisations that rely on cooperation and commonality of view. However, it can also have positive effects.

This workshop will focus on how conflict arises, what mechanisms are involved and how it might give rise to creative possibilities for change.  Participants will practise using some basic tools and techniques to help achieve this in their work with clients and colleagues
