Do you want to develop your Microsoft Excel skills?

This course is ideal for those with some Excel knowledge as it covers all the basic elements of Excel in a practical, hands on format, allowing you time to practice the techniques in the session.

This interactive and practical course introduces participants to the advanced techniques and how these can be used to enhance your work. 

This course is ideal for those who have experience of using Excel but would like a more in-depth knowledge of how to use spreadsheets more efficiently. 

By the end of the course, learners will be able to format a spreadsheet for printing, create charts, use basic functions effectively and start to analyse data

This training will be in person at OCVA.

What will I learn?

By the end of this session you will be able to:

    • Sort and filter data 
    • Use multiple spreadsheets to present your results 
    • Link different spreadsheets 
    • Understand dates and time in Excel and use them in formula 
    • Use IF statement 
    • Combine different data sets using VLOOKUP 
    • Use comments, protect areas or whole spreadsheets 
    • Use Conditional Formatting  
    • Create graphs 

Trainer profile

Gary Gibbs has had a varied career and is an experienced trainer, having trained people in health and safety, databases, consumer driven product development and food science.

Gary started his career as a research and development scientist using excel extensively for data analysis and reporting.

Having later moved into the food industry he used excel for business analysis combining large data sets to do commercial analysis on how the company’s products were performing in the marketplace.

Most recently he has created spreadsheet to mail merge invoices, track projects and imported research questionnaires into online applications for use in clinical trials.

He loves a spreadsheet!

This session is appropriate for any organisation staff, volunteers or trustees.

Please note there are two steps to this process and both steps of the process will need to be completed to secure your place.

  1. Complete the Google bookings form and register your details. Okease remember to press SUBMIT at the end of the form.
  2. Make payment via PayPal within two working days of registering for the course. We’re using PayPal for this event. Select ‘pay with a debit or credit card ‘ if you don’t have a PayPal account (there’s no need to sign in to PayPal). If you require an invoice, please email training@ocva.org.uk
