Community Fundraising

This course is for charity fundraisers who organise events and/or use volunteers to fundraising on behalf or in aid of their charity.

The course covers the advantages and disadvantages associated with raising funds from local communities, managing volunteers, including legal and regulatory, developing a community fundraising strategy, where community fundraising fits into the broader fundraising strategy, volunteer recruitment and motivation, practical event planning and management, return on investment and how to measure success.

What will I learn?

By the end of this session you will:

  • Understand what community fundraising is (and isn’t!)
  • Opportunities and challenges around community fundraising
  • How to manage fundraising volunteers (legal and regulatory aspects)
  • How to manage the challenges
  • Developing fundraising networks
  • How to support and retain fundraising volunteers

Trainer details

Kathy Roddy has been a fundraising trainer and consultant for the past 17 years. Prior to that, she was Executive Director of a national animal welfare organisation. Kathy is a certified member of the Institute of Fundraising and holds the Certificate in Fundraising Management. She has recently co-authored an MA module entitled ‘The Art and Science of Fundraising’ which is part of the MA in Philanthropy run through the Centre for Philanthropy at the University of Kent.

  • £80 per person from a charitable organisation who are not OCVA members
