Manual Handling of Inanimate Objects

 Manual Handling of Inanimate Objects

What is Manual Handling?

Manual handling relates to the act of carrying and/or moving objects. This training covers correct lifting techniques and how to prevent injury.

Poor moving and handling techniques cause many injuries at work. When lifting awkward or heavy objects, accidents can occur. This course teaches individuals how to lift safely without risking injuries on themselves or others.

This course will be held in person at West Oxford Community Centre, Botley Road, Oxford OX2 0BT

Poor moving and handling practices can create several health problems. These can include physical injuries such as back pain and musculoskeletal disorders that lead to an inability to work. It can also lead to accidents that can injure the employee involved in lifting or those around them.

What will I learn?

  • Understand the importance of correct manual handling.
  • Manual handling operations which are hazardous to health.
  • How to prevent injury and harm from manual handling.
  • Legal requirements with regards to manual handling operations in the workplace.
  • The value of risk assessment and how to apply safe manual handling practice.
