The role of the Chair in effective Development and Planning

As Chair, you are responsible for guarding your organisation and its mission and guiding the Board and Management to achieve its aims.

Your role is becoming increasingly challenging due to the unique requirements of the charity sector.

Development and Planning are the interlinked pillars on which all organisations stand, and straightforward skills in these areas will transform results.

Whether you are experienced and want more ideas, new to the role and needing successful techniques or a potential Chair looking for support, this workshop focuses on practical solutions to achieve positive results for growth and delivery.

How will I and my organisation benefits?

The workshop will take the form of a Board Meeting with Development and Planning as the agenda.

The workshop leader will cover each topic comprehensively, discuss ways forward and encourage all participants to contribute.

The purpose is to provide reassurance and guidance for those facing current challenges and motivation for others new to the responsibilities or the sector. The content is designed to be of value to all levels of experience, any size and type of organisation and is practice based.

Your workshop leader

Neil Morrick will lead the workshop. His community activities over four decades include education, health and welfare together with strategic and marketing mentoring for many local, regional and national charities supporting a wide range of sectors.

Neil is a past chair of the now Oxford Spires Academy, Oxfordshire Family Mediation and Oxfordshire Youth. He initiated and co-wrote the Charity Chairs Checklist and has launched and delivered chairs’ forums and networks.
