Trustee courses

To help support trustees, we have developed a number of courses appropriate for all board members surrounding governance, financial and legal responsibilities.

We aim to improve your skills, knowledge and confidence with accredited and non-accredited training; leading to personal and career development.

See below for an overview of our current trustee courses.

Good Governance

This essential session will look at the legal and financial aspects of charitable organisations and the roles and responsibilities associated with them.

Don’t Panic: An Introduction to Budgeting

The session aims to build your understanding of the importance of budgeting, build the confidence and ability to create a budget and leave the workshop having started the work to ensure a sound budget for the coming financial year.

How to be a good trustee

This course is for new trustees, those thinking about joining a board or existing board members wanting a refresher and update. It aims to provide an overview of the key things you need to know as a trustee. The session will equip you with the knowledge of your responsibilities as a trustee and confidence to know where to go to find out more after the course. The course covers the role of individual trustees and the nature of their collective responsibility, plus some practical tips about how to be effective and add value to the board.
