The Youth Worker role will involve working alongside our youth work team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality youth work in Didcot, and to build long-lasting positive relationships with the young people who access our various provisions.

In your role, you will support the youth provision we currently have in place. This is comprised of a varied offer, including a mixture of street-based detached youth work, outreach youth work where it is needed most, an LGBTQ+ youth group, young women’s and young men’s groups, participation, holiday programmes and a regular open-access youth club. This role will give you the opportunity to meet the young people’s ever-changing needs responsively.

You’ll support the team to deliver high-quality, responsive youth work across open access, detached and mentoring provision.

We’re looking for someone who is committed to reaching young people who may not access other services, especially those who feel overlooked, unheard or unsure where they belong. We’d like you to be comfortable spending time in the community, meeting young people on their terms, and building relationships. You will have the opportunity to support the delivery of youth work across a range of settings, including parks, schools, and youth clubs, and help create welcoming, inclusive spaces where young people feel seen and supported.

Your role will be supported by the Youth Work Manager and you will report directly to them.

• To develop a strong and boundaried rapport with the young people that access TRAIN’s provisions
• Assisting in the preparation, delivery and administration of sessions as required
• Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all the young people accessing TRAIN, including adherence to TRAIN’s policies and procedures
• Enabling young people to develop new skills through positive opportunities, and participation
• Helping young people to recognise and articulate their own needs and developing strategies to meet them together with the youth work team
• Actively participating in continuous professional development and training opportunities
• Contributing to the wider youth work team by bringing new ideas, supporting and challenging colleagues
• Participating in regular one-to-ones with your line manager
• Aligning to the general ethos and practices of TRAIN
• Support the young people on their journey through TRAIN’s participation pathway, helping them to access new opportunities and reach their full potential
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the other members of our youth work team
• Ensure that your delivery is compliant with relevant legal, regulatory and safeguarding standards, and with TRAIN’s policies and procedures
