Chat and ice cream at SNG Roadshow!
Vicki and Jane from the Well Together team attended the SNG Roadshow in Caldecott, South Abingdon to let local residents know about the brilliant activities that have been funded through the Well Together programme in the area.
They brought along fun free activities of stone painting and wooden heart painting, which entertained both adults and children. It was great to hear from local residents AND funded local groups that they are fans of the support and activities provided through Well Together!
Parents’ feedback
One parent said that finding local activities would be great so that she has a life outside of looking after her children. “I never get time to myself, so a local activity would be great – something that is for ME!” She was interested in many of the classes including Afro Dance, beginners’ sewing and ‘Yarn Craft’ crochet classes run by ACAFSG (and supported by One Planet Abingdon). She said that both she and her husband would enjoy the free Community Shed sessions offered by Oxford Wood Recycling for Caldecott residents.
Parents with babies were interested in Abingdon Carousel’s stay & play sessions, and OXPIP’s therapeutic support. People with older children and teenagers were keen to know more about Abingdon Youth FC, The Abingdon Bridge (TAB), Junior Creators (also run by ACAFSG) and The DAMASCUS Youth Project. The Well Together programme has funded something for everyone!
Some of the local funded groups came up to tell us how much they have appreciated the support given by the Well Together team (as well as the funding!) Well Together a “grants plus” approach where we support local groups to thrive and be as sustainable as possible so that they can continue to support local residents’ health and wellbeing by running their great local activities.
We also very much enjoyed meeting all the other great groups and services who were at the roadshow in Preston Road Community Centre. A big thanks to SNG for running the day – and for the voucher for a free trip to the ice cream van parked outside for a ‘99!
