Two well-loved community groups, both supported by Connected Communities Funding, have recently marked special anniversary milestones.
Headington Repair Café celebrated ten years with a special ‘Fix-it’ birthday cake at Bullingdon Community Association. Volunteers have been meeting nearly every week for the past decade to try and fix a variety of items, with an impressive 60% success rate. Over the past year alone they saved 300kg of items from landfill; at a consistent rate, that would total around 3 tonnes over the full ten years.
Bicester East Community Association runs the ‘Because Talking Matters’ coffee morning project. They recently celebrated their first anniversary with live music and cake. They also received toiletry donations from Bicester Hygiene Bank and food donations from Bicester Hub for local residents to take home.
