Around 25% of all adults drink at levels that could be placing their health or wellbeing at risk. Alcohol Identification and Brief Advice helps to identify risky drinking before it becomes a more serious problem such as dependency – prevention is better than cure!
Oxfordshire County Council Public Health are funding a series of free online Alcohol Identification and Brief Advice (IBA) training sessions, delivered by Dr James Morris. The training is suitable for volunteers and anyone working in a public-facing role across the voluntary and community sector.
During this interactive half-day session, participants will learn how to:
- Recognise signs of risky alcohol use
- Start supportive, non-judgemental conversations about alcohol
- Deliver simple evidence-based brief advice
- Signpost people to local services and support
- Build confidence in having health and wellbeing conversations
The training is delivered virtually and is free to attend. Upcoming sessions take place on:
- Tuesday 20th October, 9:30 – 13:30
- Thursday 5th November, 9:30 – 13:30
- Wednesday 16th December, 9:30 – 13:30
