Being a leader is undoubtedly rewarding, but it comes with its unique set of challenges. Leaders often find themselves navigating unexpected operational decisions, team redeployment, and critical strategic choices that shape the future of their organisations and the communities they serve.
‘First Stop’ is a collaboration between OCVA and Charity Mentors Oxfordshire. It’s a first point of contact for charity and community leaders seeking guidance, support and information. Leaders can make an online appointment to meet with senior representatives from OCVA and Charity Mentors to confidentially discuss their challenges.
This is a peer network across Oxfordshire, run by Chairs for Chairs, and co-ordinated by OCVA. The role of the Chair is crucial to the effective running of charities and Chairs have the chance to have a powerful impact on issues across their communities which they really care about. It is a role which can be exciting and rewarding, but it can also feel quite lonely and challenging at times. Few Chairs have easy access to the kind of support and advice which would make the difference to what we can all achieve.
