OCVA has always been here to support anyone to find the right volunteering role for them.

We achieve this through Oxon Volunteers, where people can browse available opportunities from a wide range of Oxfordshire charities, non-profits and community groups. We also offer face to face meetings, phone calls and email, where needed.

As a small organisation, we work hard to make our resources go as far as possible. Jenny Bowley, our fantastic Volunteering Development Manager, looks after all things related to volunteering.

supporting you to support volunteers

In reviewing the support we offer, we recognise that when a potential volunteer is referred to us by a partner agency, the person may have additional needs that we aren’t aware of. This can make finding the right volunteer opportunity difficult and risk leaving volunteers and organisations disillusioned. Partner agencies know the people they are supporting best, and so we are shifting our approach to give those agencies the right tools to ensure everyone can access volunteering.

Our support to you
  • Instead of accepting referrals across for a one-to-one meeting, we feel that you are best placed to support those you are working with. We are here to make sure that you can access resources, training and an up-to-date website full of great volunteering opportunities.
  • We offer tailored training to partners on how to use Oxon Volunteers so that everyone knows how to get the best out of the opportunities on offer.
  • Individuals who self-refer through our phone or email service are initially invited to speak to us over the phone or via email.
  • In person meetings will be reserved for those with specific needs and will be offered at the discretion of our Volunteering Development Manager.
  • We love to attend your staff meetings, provide training on volunteer brokerage and ensure everyone can find the right role for them. Get in touch to explore how we can work with you.
  • Our training offer is developed to support the wider needs of volunteers in Oxfordshire, if you have an idea for a course, let us know.
