The fund supports charities providing urgent support or relief to people experiencing financial hardship, helping them to meet immediate needs.

Grants range from £250 to £2,500. The Foundation particularly welcomes nominations for charities working in areas of deprivation and those with an annual income of less than £100,000.

How to apply

To be eligible, charities must be registered with the charity commission, support beneficiaries in the UK, and be nominated by a Yorkshire Building Society member or colleague. Charities must not have received a donation from the Foundation in the last two years and must have submitted their annual returns on time. Community Interest Companies, community organisations and voluntary organisations that are not registered charities will not be considered.

Nominations are accepted on an ongoing basis, with upcoming deadlines of 30 June, 30 September and 31 December. The next stated deadline is 30 June 2026.
