FUNDING: The True Colours Trust

June 23, 2026

The True Colours Trust’s UK Small Grants programme supports local organisations and projects working with disabled children and young people, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families.

The programme is open to organisations working with children and young people aged 0 to 25. Grants are available for projects, activities, equipment and materials that directly benefit disabled children, children with life-limiting conditions, their siblings and families.

The Trust will consider funding for:

  • Activities for disabled children, children with life-limiting conditions and their families
  • Activities which support siblings of disabled children or children with life-limiting conditions
  • Bereavement support for children, young people and families bereaved of a child
  • Family support / parent-led peer support for parents of disabled children
  • Respite that supports the whole family
  • Renovation, upgrading and additional equipment for hydrotherapy pools and multi-sensory rooms
  • Minibuses
  • Specialist play equipment, and access to play and leisure

The programme provides grants of up to £10,000, although many grants are smaller.

Applications are accepted from UK registered charities and CICs delivering projects in the UK, with an annual income of less than £350,000. The Trust is particularly keen to receive applications from organisations working in areas of high deprivation and from organisations that are open to children and families of all faiths, backgrounds and cultures.

The Trust does not fund individuals, schools, local authorities, residential schemes, condition-specific organisations, organisations registered outside the UK, projects outside the UK, wish-granting or regranting activity, or newly registered organisations that do not yet have a full year of accounts. Organisations that have received a small grant from the Trust within the last 12 months are also not eligible.

How to apply

Applications may be submitted at any time using the online form or a Microsoft Word version of the form. The Trust aims to respond with a final decision within 12 weeks. Successful applicants must provide a report on the use of the grant within 12 months of payment.

Organisations that have previously received a grant should wait at least one year after completing their project before reapplying. Unsuccessful applicants are also asked to wait at least one year from the date of application before applying again.
