The Charity funds digital projects that improve one or more of its priority areas:

• Education
• Inclusion
• Tech for charities
• Public understanding of technology

All funded projects must make use of information technology. The Charity is particularly interested in innovative, scalable and sustainable projects, including new services, training, apps, analytics, AI, robotics, custom accessibility features or bespoke hardware.

Applications may be submitted at any time and are considered by the Charitable Operations Committee at one of its four meetings each year. The next deadline is 5pm on 14 August 2026, with decisions expected by the end of September.

Applicants should note that demand is very high, and the current success rate is less than 3%.

The WCIT Charity is more likely to fund projects where its grant will make a clear and significant difference. This may include projects where it is the main or sole funder, or where it is funding the technology element of a wider project. Organisations that could benefit from the Charity’s pro bono support may also be a good fit.

The Charity does not fund start-up organisations less than one year old, organisations with annual income or reserves over £1 million, schools, academies or PTAs, existing projects or services, core running costs, commercially available off-the-shelf products, networking or telephony costs, political or lobbying work, consultancy costs, loans or debt repayments, or projects mainly benefiting people outside the UK.

Projects are also unlikely to be eligible if they benefit fewer than 25 people directly, cost more than £300 per beneficiary, or request less than 25% of the total project budget.
