UK registered charities can apply for funding to support evidence-based, trauma-informed work with children, young people and parents affected by Adverse Childhood Experiences, known as ACEs. ACEs can include abuse, neglect, domestic violence, living with a parent with mental illness or substance misuse, bereavement, parental imprisonment, abandonment or family breakdown.
The fund is aimed at specialist charities helping children and young people recover from trauma, or supporting parents to address their own ACEs, mental health issues or addiction so they can help break the cycle of trauma across generations.
This programme is only open to charities whose entire service model is dedicated to this work. Organisations are not eligible if ACE-related work is only one strand of their services, if their services are open to all adults rather than parents specifically, or if they are seeking support for a pilot project and have not previously been funded. Applicants must be UK registered charities working regionally or nationally, use trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches, involve service users in shaping their work, demonstrate impact, have an annual income below £20 million and hold at least five years of audited or independently examined accounts. Expressions of Interest open on 1 July 2026 and close on 31 August 2026 at 5pm.
Charities should use the online Eligibility Checker before submitting an Expression of Interest. If eligible, they will be directed to the online application platform. The funder recommends drafting answers offline first, as the Expression of Interest form link changes daily. Further guidance, drafting forms and the Eligibility Checker are available on the funder’s website.
